Sometimes, Kamui just didn't feel like school -didn't see the point of going at all.  After all, he was beyond the age of required schooling, and with everything else going on, sometimes it was just like... really?  Really?  The world was ending, he was failing in his duties, and instead of focusing purely on that, he was stuck in homeroom, musing on how he'd "conveniently forgotten" his math homework.  Sometimes that just seemed a little stupid and pointless.

Sure, yeah, he got the whole "social interaction" thing (which -Keiichi aside- he more or less avoided regardless), and he even fully understood that he needed some sense of normality.  But... still...

He sighed and pressed his forehead to his desk as the teacher entered the classroom, wondering how much trouble he would get into if he just slept away his classes for the day.  The urge was quite tempting.  Maybe he could even get off the hook by blaming it on his still-healing wounds and the residual effects of pain killers.  Maybe?

Suddenly, however, all thoughts of sleep flew away as he snapped to attention, only vaguely hearing the teacher say something about a new transfer student.  The oddness of it was what caught his classmates' interests -since the last kekkai fell, people had been transferring out of Tokyo and not in- but what caught Kamui's was the strange power he could feel in the boy.  Sure, CLAMP School was no stranger to people with powers, but... this felt unique.  Interesting.

Quiet, Kamui tilted his head slightly and watched the new student, eying him with poorly hidden curiosity.

"Yes, plenty of flowers to make flower circlets for the kids."

He was quite for a bit as the bird eventually flew over to Kamui's shoulder.

"I miss them and Kanata, but I was recently adopted, well found by my older brother. It's been really weird lately...everything changed."

He couldn't exactly go into the whole the world could end and he's its only hope along with the Zweilts who were charged with protecting him.

Kamui nodded, quite sure that of course things had changed. Tokyo was partially in ruins, the country was in a panic. CLAMP Campus was really one of the few places that was left safe, and even it would fall if he were to lose.

"Being found..." He tilted his head, obviously musing on that. Oh, he was now a orphan too -as far as he knew, anyway- and had been found by the Seals. It was... "That... can be nice, though." Extremely strange, but sometimes also nice.

Kamui shifted, the little bird shifting with him. "Ah, I used to make flower circlets when I was a kid. I was pretty good at them." And then he flushed, not sure why he admitted that.

Yuki moved to sit by the tree and pulled out his lunch. The conversation could go on for awhile if he let it, but he felt at ease around Kamui.

"They have definitely taken me in like family and everyone is really nice. I just have to get used to everything."

Kamui nodded and quietly started in on his own food, made entirely by him as he had been on bento duty for today.

"I..." he suddenly spoke up and shifted nervously, poking at a meatball. Not entirely sure how to phrase that he can relate, or if he should even tell Yuki that much, but... "I've only been here a couple of months, and I've kind of been adopted too, I guess. In a way. So... I know how weird it can be getting used to stuff."

Yuki brightened at that. So not only had he met someone who wasn't running away from him but they were in similar situations.

"How have you done it? I mean gotten used to it?"

"Ah, honestly?" He started to poke at other food items, staring at them intently. "I haven't. I mean, I... I guess I've become friends with the people I live with, but it's still pretty strange." But it could also be fun and amusing at times, and Sorata was always there for him at any hour he needed.

"Just... I grew up moving around all the time with my mother, so for the most part, I didn't make friends or anything." Except those precious few years with Kotori and Fuuma. "Suddenly being around lots of people is a bit... overwhelming. At times."

"I can understand that. Everyone at Twilight mansion is really nice and treats me like they've known me all my life, but I mean I only just met them. I'm still trying to get used to it. People don't tend to like to be around me..."

He even got hate letters threatening his life in the mail.

"Why?" The other seemed kind enough, so why wouldn't people want to be around him? Was it... "Because of your power?"

It occurred to him only a moment after that slip that maybe he shouldn't have been so blunt about it. Maybe that was a tender subject. But... he really, really wanted to know...

"S-Sorry. I... I'm not really... uh. I can sense stuff like that. I just can't tell what kind of power you have, and... I mean..."

Well that got Yuki to freeze completely. Only few people knew of his power and most of the ones who did were only out to kill him.

"How...."

Kamui mentally panicked almost immediately. He hadn't meant to upset the other -he just wanted to know what his power was, and why it was so strong.

"I'm not someone bad, I promise." He placed his bento on the grass and sighed, stretching out one arm as he allowed his power to gather. It swirled around his hand and gathered in his palm, glowing and crackling. "I'm not normal, either."

Even though it was a bit uncomfortable, he quickly snuffed the power out, blushing a little as he turned to Yuki. "Please... don't tell anyone what I just showed you? I really shouldn't have... I mean, most don't know..." Except for those involved in his war.

Yuki flinched at the power though didn't run away. Kamui didn't feel bad and he could usually tell if someone was.

"I...I won't. I promise."

He looked away, as he knew if he showed Kamui his powers...well if he touched him Kamui would probably run.

Ugh. Now he felt incredibly awkward. And kind of worried. Because showing his power to outsiders outside of the context of a battle wasn't really... something he did normally. Even Keiichi, who was the only non-involved friend he had, didn't know about the part of him.

Still, somehow? He did trust Yuki not to tell anyone. Not to mention that if he did, Imonoyama was likely to fix the problem before it got too bad.

"I just... I'm curious about you, since I can feel you so clearly, and... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to..."

Yuki hadn't left so that was a good thing right?

"If...I show you my powers I won't be angry if you run away...I'm used to it."

It was a good thing, even if Kamui wasn't sure why he hadn't run yet.

"I won't run away." That, at least, Kamui could say with certainty.

Yuki set his own bento down before moving to take Kamui's hand gently. He was ready but wasn't ready for what he was about to see and suddenly the tree they were under took on a whole new meaning. Flashes of Kamui's past flew through both their minds as well as the emotions that went with it.

It left Yuki shaking as he released Kamui's hand and leaned against the tree.

"I..I'm sorry...."

Kamui was shaking as well, eyes tightly shut as he tried to calm himself. It wasn't as if those images were anything new, however: he saw them almost every night. Over and over, his subconscious tortured him with them.

"No, I..." He looked to the other, and it all made sense to him. "Are you alright?" Based on Yuki's reaction, he assumed well enough that he had also seen everything. The ability to look into memories... that was different.

"I'm okay...I just wasn't....you shouldn't have to have the life you have. It's not fair."

Everyone he'd come in contact too had had a bad past but Kamui's definitely beat out those.

"Are..you hurt anywhere right now?"

After seeing the images he knew that Kamui probably had at least a few wounds he could help with.

"I..." He wasn't sure what to say, really. To have someone suddenly know him was pretty new, as most of the people around him had been with him during everything. At least, all the recent pain. Not to mention that he couldn't help but be worried, as bad things tended to happen to those who became involved. Even knowing was a risk.

The question at least distracted him from his mixed feelings on Yuki knowing everything, and he held out his bandaged arm. Obviously, yes. Still injured in lots of places. He had become rather used to being bandaged.

Yuki took a breath before taking Kamui's arm and slowly let his power flow his hand glowing. Soon Kamui's arm started to heal along with any other injuries he had. Yuki still wasn't that used to the healing power or the pain that came with it and did his best to hide any show of pain.

That was...

Kamui felt Yuki's power flow through him, healing, the sensation new and kind of strange. If only... if only he had powers so useful, then maybe... he couldn't have been more help to others...?

After the healing was done, Kamui looked to his arm curiously and then looked to Yuki worriedly. "Th-Thank you, but... does... I mean, doesn't that kind of thing tire you out?" Because most powers that could do such amazing things had backlashes or were draining and the like.

Yuki didn't answer right away as he held his arm in the same place that Kamui had been hurt.

"It's only temporary."

[haplesswisher]

Kamui's eyes narrowed. "What is?" Tiredness? Whatever it was, he wasn't pleased at the idea of Yuki harming himself in any way for his own good. Enough people had been harmed because of him -he didn't need another.

[light_of_god]

"It's nothing, see I'm okay now."

he smiled as he moved to get his bento back though it was a bit slower.

"It's not okay, Giou-kun," Kamui snapped, noticing the change in the other immediately. "Whatever you did, it harmed you. Enough... enough people have been harmed because of me. Please don't..."

He sighed, ignoring his own food for now. "This will not be the last time I'm injured, I'm sure. Please don't harm yourself for me again, okay?"

"It's okay really. I'm just glad I can help in some way. It's all I can really do."

After all the Zweilts all risked their lives for him so he can at least help them by healing them and Kamui was nice so he can help him.

"I don't want to see you or anyone else hurt anymore...I've seen enough..."
